DESCRIPTION:Hazardous Materials Technician Course for HDS Candidates\n  \nThe USBTA is offering this 40-hour Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) Course\, at no cost to public safety bomb squads\, for candidates preparing to attend the FBI Hazardous Devices School (HDS). The course is designed to fulfill the required HMT prerequisite and provide students with the hazardous materials knowledge and practical skills necessary to operate safely in explosive and hazardous-material environments. \n  \nInstruction will be delivered jointly by experienced public safety bomb technicians and HAZMAT technicians. This combined approach ensures students receive the required technician-level instruction while also understanding how those principles apply specifically to bomb squad operations. DESCRIPTION:The United States Bomb Technician Association (USBTA) will conduct the first ever CONVERGENT Operational Technology Integration Exercise (OTIE) at Fort Knox\, Kentucky November 3-5\, 2026 (17 Bullion Blvd\, Fort Knox\, KY 40121). \n\n\n\nCONVERGENT stands for Concept\, Operational Needs Validation\, Evaluation\, and Real-Time Gap Analysis of Emerging and New Technologies. \nUSBTA\, along with a variety of industry partners\, will conduct the first ever CONVERGENT Operational Technology Integration Exercise (TTE).  This exercise brings together qualified public safety bomb technicians\, HAZMAT and CBRN specialists\, military EOD personnel\, screening and detection professionals\, government and military mission partners\, federal laboratories\, industry\, academia\, and vetted international participants in a structured\, hands-on training/exercise environment. \n\n\n\nHands-On Technology Integration \nQualified operators are given time to use\, compare\, and assess capabilities in realistic operational contexts.  \nCapability-Gap Identification \nOver three operational days\, teams complete five hands-on Operational Modules and participate in one all-hands Campfire engagement. \nEach module is a facilitated by Subject Matter Experts.
