X-Ray Technology Showcase Supporting DHS Components

With ever evolving threats, reliable security is needed at different size events to ensure the safety of the public as well as special dignitaries and protectees. The DHS Components and other law enforcement partners must stay abreast of the latest technologies available to detect contraband and ensure it does not enter secured locations.
WHAT:
- Showcase X-ray solutions for DHS Components, interagency, and state and local officials, to enhance the screening and detection of small parcels, including, packages, purses, gym bags, boxes, and equipment.
- Engage industry to gain a sharper understanding of commercial solutions which meet unique operational needs, accounting for mobility, speed, space, volume, and timing of checkpoints.
- Demonstrate how technologies can be applied during protective operations to detect and counter threats.
GOALS
- Understand how state-of-the-art technologies can enhance detection of contraband and keep it from entering National Special Security Events, including:
- Portable X-ray systems
- Fixed site X-ray systems
- Advise law enforcement and security operators of the availability and capability of equipment, its limitations, and operational uses.
- Guide future investments in support of the DHS missions to address evolving threats and enhance screening and detection.
DINSIDE LOOK
- Hear commercial vendors discuss marketplace trends and solutions to bolster screening and detection.
- Engage and partner with DHS Components and other law enforcement partners who share common goals for operationalizing advances in science and technology to enhance safety and security.
- Educate and raise awareness: see, touch, and use X-ray detection equipment.
