United States Bomb Technician Association Announces Leadership Team to Advance Mission and Ensure Strategic Growth

Newly appointed leaders will guide organizational development, strengthen national impact, and support the evolving needs of the bomb technician community. 

Indian Head, Maryland – (July 29, 2025) – The United States Bomb Technician Association (USBTA) proudly announces the formation of a dedicated leadership team focused on advancing its mission, enhancing operational capacity, and ensuring long-term strategic growth. This new leadership structure reflects USBTA’s commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the nation’s bomb technician community and expanding its impact across federal, state, and local agencies. 

With the increasingly complex threat landscape, USBTA recognizes the critical need for a forward-thinking, unified leadership team. This team of leaders brings extensive expertise from the military, public safety, and private sectors, and will oversee initiatives related to training, technology integration, interagency collaboration, and member engagement. 

“Establishing this leadership team is a significant step toward strengthening our foundation and preparing for the future,” said Sean Dennis, Chief Executive Officer of the USBTA. “Our goal is to ensure that bomb technicians across the country are equipped, connected, and supported through every stage of their careers.” 

The leadership team reflects a balance of continuity and forward momentum, combining long-standing expertise with fresh perspectives. Several leaders have been instrumental in USBTA’s foundation and ongoing mission, while others have recently been promoted or newly appointed to key strategic roles.

This diverse and experienced team includes: 

  • Sean Dennis, Chief Executive Officer – Co-founder of the USBTA, an FBI HDS graduate, former Bomb Squad Commander and Special Operations Sergeant with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, is responsible for executive leadership, organizational direction, and mission alignment. 
  • Scott Fulkerson, President – Retired ATF Special Agent and Bomb Squad Commander and Resident Agent in Charge of the Richmond Field Office for the ATF, with many years of experience in the Counter IED Field, is returning to USBTA to help guide long-term growth. 
  • Vandiver Hood, Chief Operations Officer – Retired Air Force EOD Technician with 30+ years of service, retiring as the Air Force EOD Career Field Manager, now leading daily operations and driving operational excellence. 
  • Eric Gahagan, Chief Business Officer – Advisor to the USBTA since 2020, is a retired Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad Technician, an experienced leader in the private sector that includes training, technology and Biotech, is now overseeing business development, interagency partnerships, and innovation. 
  • Nicole Motsek, Chief Strategy Officer – Veteran nonprofit leader focused on strategy, organizational development, capacity building, and charitable initiatives. 
  • Dr. Joseph Brady, PhD, Chief Research & Development Officer – Returning to USBTA; PhD chemist and HME expert leading R&D and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of the bomb disposal community. 

Together, this team will round out the organization’s four key focus areas and represent the cross-sector collaboration at the heart of USBTA’s mission — bringing military precision, public safety experience, and strategic foresight to support and advance the nation’s bomb technician community. 

“The rapid growth and success of the USBTA over the past eight years has been astounding, and I am honored to be in the role of USBTA President now as we work diligently to plan for our future successes and support of this amazing community,” said Scott Fulkerson, President of the USBTA. 

USBTA remains committed to honoring the professionalism, courage, and expertise of the bomb technician community. The creation of this leadership team marks a new chapter in the organization’s development, one rooted in sustainability, service, and national security. 

Established on October 19, 2016, the United States Bomb Technician Association (USBTA) is the only nonprofit public charity, recognized under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3), that exclusively focuses on the needs of United States bomb disposal technician.  The mission of the USBTA is to strengthen the bonds of the bomb disposal community by establishing a network of trust, awareness, and collaboration. 

The USBTA employs emerging technologies to provide cutting-edge training for active bomb technicians in the military and public safety.  USBTA’s innovative approach provides training opportunities with emerging technologies and encourages the sharing of resources, ideas, and experiences among bomb specialists, academia, innovators, and industry partners. This collaboration also addresses improvements to operational training/education, product improvement, and awareness of charitable efforts across the First Responder and Warfighter communities.
